The Prince’s Trust in its 40th Anniversary year
I’m excited to be running 40 marathons in 40 days to raise money for The Prince’s Trust in its 40th Anniversary year. My aim is to help thousands of young people to improve their life opportunities and make a better future.
I’ll also be getting into the spirit by taking on the DofE Diamond Challenge when I start the first of 40/40 marathons on 16th July 2016 – taking to the streets of London to complete a marathon a day whilst visiting excellent businesses, charities and individuals who are supporting me, and the young people I am raising funds for along the way.
I’m motivated to do something different because I have faced many challenges in my own life that left me in fear and at risk as a young person. I was able to change my fortunes by working hard to create a safe and happy future for my own family, but not every child gets that chance and they need the support of organisations like The Prince’s Trust and the DofE to help them create a brighter future.
The Prince’s Trust help 13 to 30 year-olds who are unemployed or struggling at school to transform their lives. Many of the young people they help are in, or leaving, care, facing issues such as homelessness or mental health problems, or have been in trouble with the law.
The DofE is widely acknowledged as the world’s leading achievement award for young people between the ages of 14-24, allowing them to develop skills for life and for work, such as confidence, commitment, resilience, and teamwork.
These are two brilliant organisations both dedicated to helping young people, but they can’t exist without our support. I’m doing my bit by taking on the challenge of my life. All I need is your support to help me complete 40 marathons in 40 days.
I‘ll pay you a visit on a day of your choice, give your team a motivational talk like they have never experienced; telling them my personal story and what really makes the difference in business, and I’ll even wear an outfit of your choice to promote your band for the duration of my marathon that day!
